The Flameshield fire curtain range is installed as 'Life Protecting Equipment' in accordance with the overall Smoke & Fire Engineering of any Building and therefore must be maintained by qualified personnel on a regular basis. This is a legal requirement under the 2005 Regulatory Reform Order (see regulatory responsibility section).

Fire and Smoke Curtain Service and Maintenance Checklist

Planned preventative maintenance is in accordance with our recommendations and comprises the following key tasks:

Monthly Testing (by Client)

•  Ensure Service Staff have received training from Curtain Manufacturer and/or Supplier i.e. A1S Group.

•  Check that all curtains are free of obstructions within their descent path.

•  Check that there have been no additions to walls or surfaces in the vicinity or in the descent path, which could interfere with the curtain deployment.

•  Operate all units from the Control Unit(s).

•  Ensure all curtains deploy to their Fire Operational.

•  Visually inspect curtains for signs of damage.

•  Reset system and ensure all curtains retract to their fire ready position.

•  Enter test time, date, and inspectors name on record sheet.

•  Report any operational difficulties or failures to A1 Shutters Limited t/a A1S Group.

Six Monthly Inspection (by A1S Fire and Smoke Curtain Engineer Only)

Repeat monthly operation

•  Check condition of all bottom bars, and their interface with the ceiling.

•  Check operation of curtains under “Power and Gravity Fail Safe” modes.

•  Inspect integrity of all curtains in the down position, for tears, snagging, stitching etc.

•  Check correct operation of all LEDs at all controls.

•  Check mechanical action in the side guides etc. (where applicable).

•  Check additional controls operational (where applicable).

•  Indicate alarm signal source.

•  Visual inspection of all wiring, connections, and control equipment for evidence of damage, wear, interference etc.

•  Battery Load Test

•  DC signal voltage test

•  Charger card output check

•  Ascent load amps check

•  Complete inspection report and issue to client.

•  Video/Photograph Curtain Drop Test, Curtain Open, Curtain Deploy, Curtain Close for internal A1S records

Caution:230V ac input voltage. Qualified personnel to BS7671. IEE Regulations only.
