Three Flameshield 8524S systems installed at 161 Drury Lane, the London flagship of one of the UK's most respected main contractors. 

Introduction 

McAleer & Rushe is a Tier 1 UK main contractor with decades of experience delivering complex commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments across the country. Their projects include some of the most demanding builds in the industry. When the company chose to retrofit and refurbish 161 Drury Lane in London's West End as their own office, they specified A1S Group to supply and install the fire curtain systems. 

The Project

161 Drury Lane is an office building in the heart of the West End. McAleer & Rushe undertook a full retrofit and refurbishment of the existing structure, transforming it into a modern, energy-efficient Grade A office space. The project involved restoring and reusing the current building fabric whilst upgrading it to meet contemporary workspace and compliance standards.  

The Solution

A1S Group supplied and installed three Flameshield 8524S fire and smoke curtain systems as part of the completed fit-out. The Flameshield 8524S delivers 120 minutes of fire integrity, 85 minutes of radiation protection, and combined smoke-rated performance to BS EN 1634-3. Fully concealed within the ceiling void during normal operation, the systems deploy automatically on activation, providing compliant fire and smoke compartmentation that integrates without compromise into a high-specification interior. 

A1S Group managed the full process from design through to installation and commissioning. 

The Outcome

Three systems were successfully installed and commissioned as part of the completed refurbishment. 161 Drury Lane now serves as the London headquarters of McAleer & Rushe.
