Fire and smoke curtains were required for one of Manchester’s latest mixed retail and office developments. A1S secured the project with Flameshield BS EN 1634-1 fire curtains with smoke compliance to BS EN 1634-3. Multi-functional two stage panels were required allowing split drop.

The smoke compliance required A1S air leakage data to comply with the Sa classification specified within EN 13501-2:2007 requiring that "the maximum leakage rate measured at ambient temperature, and at a pressure of up to 25 Pa, does not exceed 3m3/h per metre length of gap between the fixed and moveable components of the door set (e.g. between the fabric curtain and the side guides and top box), excluding leakage at the threshold."
